Description:

Rods are a commonly photographed anomaly, considered by some to be some kind of unknown entity or extraterrestrial.

The common consensus is that Rods are simply a visual artifact in photography and videography, especially from footage from an era where shutter speeds were quite slow. The cause of the rods in digital imaging has often been proven to be to be bugs or birds flying too quickly past the lens to be captured clearly.

Believers in rods, however, claim that these artifacts are proof of unknown flying entities existing among us on Earth. Photos of Rods are most commonly dated around the 1990's when digital cameras were becoming increasingly accessible for personal and commercial use. Interestingly, Sky Rods bear many similarities to the Anomalocaris of the Cambrian period, some reference these similarities as potential for a possible ancestor.

Prominent Encounters:

Jose Escamilla (1994)

Jose Escailla accidentally captured footage of Sky Rods in Midway, New Mexico on March 19th, 1994; while hoping to capture footage of UFOs. Jose claims that usually Rods are usually difficult to witness with naked eye but can be seen with proper conditioning. Escamilla attests that these entities are not birds, insects or some kind of man-made craft. He gave several interviews with the press as well as releasing a movie called Roswell Rods.

Zhang Jingping (2006)

Rods were commonly spotted around the Zhenguo Pharmaceutical Factory in Tonghua, China; resulting in an investigation by Zhang Jingping of the World Chinese UFO Witness Association Investigation Department. Following Jingping's investigation he discovered only small insects around the factory's botanical garden. Jingping realized that these rods had only been captured on cameras thus far and none had been seen with the naked eye. Jingping set up a net around the area, and adjusted the shutter speed of his camera, discovering then that the moths appeared identical to the rods captured previously. His net was full of the moths captured on his camera. He concluded the investigation claiming that this evidence disproved the theory that the sky rods were visual artifacts, and not an un-identified creature or extra-terrestrial.
